Electronic Application Series: UV Curing Adhesives for Sealing, Fixing and Thread Locking

ultimo caso aziendale circa Electronic Application Series: UV Curing Adhesives for Sealing, Fixing and Thread Locking

The Electronic Application Series is a family of UV curing adhesives from Super-curing developed for consumer electronics assembly. Rather than focusing on catalog numbers, this case walks through how these adhesives are actually used on the production line — from surface preparation and dispensing to UV/LED curing, assembly and inspection — covering phone sealing gaskets, earphone solder joints, speaker voice coils, formed-in-place gaskets and camera thread locking.

Why Process Matters in Electronics Assembly

In high-volume electronics, an adhesive only succeeds if it fits the line. The window between dispensing and assembly is often just seconds, parts are small and delicate, and the finished device must survive drop tests, waterproof sealing and downstream soldering. The Electronic Application Series was built around these process realities: fast LED/UV curing, solvent-free formulations that need no oven, high thixotropy that keeps beads in place, and a low-stress cure that protects thin or sensitive parts.

Applications at a Glance

ApplicationRecommended GradeTypical Process
Phone sealing gasket (FIPG)3508Clean → dispense bead → assemble → UV cure
Earphone solder joint protection & component fixing3572Post-solder → dispense → LED cure 3-5s → inspect
Voice coil & diaphragm bonding3578Dispense → align → LED cure → visual check
Formed-in-place gasket sealing3598Program path → form gasket → cure → compress at assembly
Camera module thread locking3103 / 3108Apply to threads → assemble → UV cure → lock

Case 1: Phone Sealing Gasket (3508)

The housing surfaces are first cleaned and degreased. 3508 is dispensed as a continuous bead along the sealing groove; its high thixotropy keeps the bead standing without sagging, and its excellent stacking allows taller profiles where needed. The housing is then closed and aligned, and UV light cures the gasket in seconds. Once cured, the seal provides waterproof and dustproof protection with good compression rebound, and because 3508 resists wave and reflow soldering, the finished module can pass through downstream board processes without damage.

Case 2: Earphone Solder Joint Protection and Component Fixing (3572)

After the earphone PCB is soldered, 3572 is dispensed over the solder joints and small components. The adhesive flows into place, cures in 3-5 seconds under LED light, and locks the joints against vibration and handling damage. Its low shrinkage and low dielectric constant avoid stress and electrical interference, while good visibility makes it easy for operators to confirm full coverage during inspection.

Case 3: Voice Coil and Diaphragm Bonding (3578)

In speaker and receiver assembly, 3578 is dispensed onto the voice coil and diaphragm interface. The parts are aligned and cured in seconds under LED light. The red color gives clear visual feedback that the adhesive has been applied correctly, and the low-stress cure protects the delicate diaphragm from deformation, helping maintain acoustic performance.

Case 4: Formed-in-Place Gasket Sealing (3598)

For formed-in-place gaskets, a dispensing path is programmed to lay down a continuous seal directly on the part. 3598 forms and holds the gasket profile, then cures under UV when ready. During assembly the gasket is compressed to create a tight seal, and its flexibility, compression rebound and resistance to heat, water and corrosion keep the seal reliable through vibration and temperature cycling. The same material also supports cured-in-place (CIP) processes.

Case 5: Camera Module Thread Locking (3103 and 3108)

Threads are coated with adhesive before the camera module is assembled. After assembly, UV light cures the adhesive so it locks the threads against loosening from vibration. 3103 gives fast, high-strength locking for phone cameras, while 3108 offers high hardness and high temperature resistance for general camera threads. Both dispense cleanly without stringing, keeping the assembly line tidy.

Process Benefits

  • Cure in seconds under LED/UV light — no ovens or long waits
  • Solvent-free, low-odor formulations that support RoHS and REACH compliance
  • High thixotropy for precise beads that stay in place
  • Low-stress cure that protects delicate components
  • Easy visual inspection for consistent, repeatable quality

Conclusion

The Electronic Application Series gives electronics manufacturers a practical, process-ready UV adhesive toolkit for sealing, fixing, bonding and thread locking. Contact us to discuss how these grades can be adapted to your production line.
